During a client meeting the other day, a bride says to me, "Your stuff isn't like everyone else's." The instant she said it, I took it as a compliment. As an afterthought, I was hoping she meant it as one. It turns out, she did! She began to explain how a lot of the stuff she sees is grungy and/or over photo-shopped.
I explained to her that I don't do a whole lot of photo-shopping. Instead, what I really strive for is a very natural looking image. I try very hard to get everything right in camera. I can also say this wasn't always the case. I had a small love affair with textures, and I've tried my hand in the extremes of photo shop. Every once in a while, it is fun to experiment and try new things.
That all being said, I've really found a style that I love. And, I'm okay that not everybody else does. I really encourage my future clients to look through my galleries. I really want them to know what to expect image wise. And, yes, it hurts my feelings when people choose to go somewhere else (I am human). But, at the end of the day, all I really want is for them to love their images. That won't happen if they don't love my style.
