Book Report: The Hunger Games

This book series came highly recommended by multiple people. I was really nervous to read it because sci-fi is not typically my thing. But, what can I say, I'm a sucker for a little puppy love. Actually, before the romance even began I was hooked. I was in tears by Chapter Two, which was totally unexpected, and the last tears I shed through the series.

Because, they really say it better then I could, I'll just give you Wikipedia's synopsis..."sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen...lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where North America once stood. This is where a powerful government working in a central city called the Capitol holds power. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to fight to the death until only one remains. The purpose of the Hunger Games is to demonstrate that no one, including children, is above the Capitol's power." Now, I'm not going to give anything away, but I absolutely love this book, and, unbeknownst to me, would have been completely happy if the series ended there.

The second book in this series was a bit more predictable and I really did love the ending, which, in itself, was a surprise. Again, looking back, I probably would have been happy if the series ended here.

The last book of the series. I'm just gonna come right out and say it. It made me maz-at-zal (a joke you probably won't get unless you lived in AZ during the 90's). What I did like about this book is that Lil' Miss Everdeen did not disappoint. I liked the ending okay, but it was very rushed in a Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows sort of way.

Overall, I really liked the series, especially #1. I also wanted to mention that I finished the series in 11 days, thanks in part to two long flights, and one late night. So, what should I read now?

I agree! Especially with the rushed ending of book 3.
I too am looking for something new to read.

Loved the books. The ending could have had a little more meat, although I do like how it ended. I just read every line of the last couple of pages very carefully to make it seem like it stretched out a bit more. :)

I loved your post about the restaurant. We are always looking for fun, new places. We will have to try it out.

Also, are you ready to go hang out sometime...before busy season really hits?
